The Spanish government has been investing heavily in the development of high-speed rail throughout the country for a couple of years. At the same time, other companies are already working on future trains, which will be even faster than the current AVE trains. The new train is called Hyperloop One and is a privately owned project from the company Virgin. Virgin’s large development project on the Costa del Sol means that they have acquired 19,000 sqm in the industrial area Bobadilla, which lies between Antequera and Granada. 250 developers have been contracted for ten years (2020-2030) and will work on getting the future trains on rails. The project budget amounts to EUR 431 million. We have previously written about how other large international companies are investing in Spain and the Costa del Sol, including the world’s largest container fleet Maersk and transport company Uber.
